SpyBall

Description

A pinball-inspired adventure about a spy with special powers! Launch yourself through 6 levels of escalating difficulty as you collect intel from the enemy faction. Collecting enough intel will give you hints to crack their secret codes. Crack all the codes and you'll gain access to the final mission where you can discover the name of the evil mastermind!

Are you ready? Then LET'S GET ROLLING!!

Story (Intro)

This morning I woke up. It's like time travel. Like a long, empty dream has stopped and it's back to work... just like that.

As a covert spy, infiltrating enemy territory is a necessary part of the job. As the world's greatest spy? It should just be another day that ends in "y"... Should...

It seems someone intends to intervene with your operations. You've been tasked with collecting intel from one of the most notorious groups that no one knows about - a remnant of intelligence operatives from the Cold War. Yet you find yourself inexplicably in a mysterious facility that seems to be... testing something?

Left to your own devices, only you can save yourself. If you want to escape, you'll need to follow traces of evidence to unveil the secret codes that appear to lock your escape. Thankfully you aren't known as the best without good reason. Your unique abilities will allow you to slip past sightlines and gather critical clues to help you escape.

Figure out what this facility is here to accomplish, and uncover the name of the mastermind behind it all. It dances like static electricity across the surface of your mind... what does it all mean...

Details

In SpyBall, your character can shift between a "Pinball" mode and a humanoid "Walking" mode. You will shift to Walk mode if you pass through a laser gate, and you will shift to Pinball mode when entering a launcher (as well as at the start of each level).

The game has 3 missions that are each comprised of a set of levels. Acquiring collectables within the levels to reach a displayed threshold will unlock a secret letter for that level. Completing a level will save your progress of collected pickups.

Your goal is to collect enough letters to "crack the code" for each mission. On the "MISSIONS" page, you can select the lock icon to see your code progress and try to crack it. Type your answer into the input box and select the "SUBMIT" button to make a guess. If you're correct, you'll permanently crack the code! Alternatively, if you collect all the pickups throughout every level within a mission, that mission's code will be automatically cracked.

Clearing the code for the first 2 missions will unlock the final mission - a single level with a single code! Try to crack the final mission code to "beat" the game... though there is no feedback for doing so right now - sorry! But if you do crack the final code I will be very proud of you! Let us know if you pulled it off in the comments or message us in the Shovel Jam Discord!

PS. If for any reason you want to clear your save data, return to the Main Menu screen and use the menu option to do so. This was primarily to assist with debugging and troubleshooting, but it felt like a nice feature to leave in just in case anyone wants to start fresh or show a friend!

Cool level design! for the future something that might also be fun and add an extra layer is to allow the player to hold in order for the ball to be launched with more/less force.

Thanks for the compliment! That would have been fun too! Sort of like the power of a shot in golf to mimic the pull of the plunger in a pinball machine.
